ABOUT THE ROLE / PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Learning Practitioner will train a multi-culture operations staff through formal and on the job learning based on the 70:20:10 learning principle.  The Learning Practitioner will focus learning efforts for job specific competency through identifying the learning needs according to the competency maps, determine the methodologies to be used, develops the learning material and the preparation of the job specific certification, testing participation through the certification process and facilitation of the testing.  The Learning Practitioner will also focus on developing new or improving existing learning material to ensure safe, compliant and reliable operation of new and existing hardware/equipment.  The Learning Practitioner will support the development of learning plans and schedules for the specific plant.  The Learning Practitioner is a safety and compliance role model and leader.  Proactively promotes safety, seeks out “at risk” behavior and conditions in an effort to achieve goal zero.  As a Learning Practitioner’s major impact on shaping and entrenching the Enterprise values and behaviours.  Critical to Safety Performance, productivity, reliability and integrity targets within the respective areas.  Key driving force in creating and entrenching a learning culture. 

Functional Output:
  • Support the Line Manager to evaluate competence and identify gaps by using the standard competency and proficiency criteria as a guide
  • Develop structured fit for purpose Learning Plans aligned to 70:20:10 principles together with the employee, SME and/or Line Manager
  • Assist specific area in developing gap-closing strategies & assessing competence
  • Facilitate formal and on-the-job learning
  • Develop, revise and update learning material as needed
  • Confirm successful completion of learning interventions and perform workplace assessment
  • Update employee learning records and load onto the learning management system
  • Track and monitor progress against agreed Learning Plans
  • Investigate deviations from Learning Plans and agree on 
  • remedial action plan with Line Managers and employeesSupport Line with the competency declaration process
  • Provide learning feedback to relevant stakeholders – Line, Human Resources
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Combination of relevant education and relevant experience
  • Four to six years’ experience in Petrochemical Operations
  • Combination of relevent education and relevent experience
  • 26D Turner Red Seal qualification
  • Valid Driver’s License
