ABOUT THE ROLE / PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Applying Asset Management principles to enable the safe and cost effective utilisation of our assets throughout their life cycle (maintenance safely deliver reliable, functional availability; production safely utilise the availability, efficiently, reliability includes all).
Promote the utilisation of effective and efficient reliability practices by Operations.
Promote the asset management process model.
Ensure Operations is competent in the reliability practices through training, facilitation, and coaching.
Play an integral role with Operations in the prioritisation of activities and projects within the business unit (Based on potential benefits in Availability, OEE and ROI through Integrity Studies).
Measuring, establishing and optimising reliability metrics in order to operate sustainably.
Custodianship of reliability business processes, procedures, work instructions, and practices.
Ensure that processes are effective and efficient by adding value and relating to the asset management model.
Ensure that processes are understood by all role players.
Ensure Reliability Engineering process governance within the MOR value chain.
Monitoring, reporting, initiating and trending continuous improvement through Reliability processes
FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS
- Equipment Maintenance Strategy (EMS)
- Facilitate Risk Based Inspection (RBI) review on pressure equipment and piping and pipelines.
- Non Conformance Management (NCM): Next step compliance on NCM
- Reliability Performance Tools & Techniques (RPTT)
- Competency of operations personnel in Equipment Maintenance Strategy (EMS).
- Training of personnel on EMS where needed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications:
- University Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering: Mechanical / Metallurgical / Electrical / Instrumentation / Chemical / Industrial
Experience:
- Typically 6 years relevant experience in production, maintenance or engineering field
- Plant operational knowledge
KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
- Equipment Maintenance Strategy (EMS)
- Facilitate Risk Based Inspection (RBI) review on pressure equipment and piping and pipelines.
- Non Conformance Management (NCM): Next step compliance on NCM
- Reliability Performance Tools & Techniques (RPTT)
- Competency of operations personnel in Equipment Maintenance Strategy (EMS).
- Training of personnel on EMS where needed
- Operate within Agreed Parameter (OWAP): Implementation & Coaching; Facilitate the OWAP discussions with all engineering disciplines so that the risk of equipment failure can be averted
- Data Analysis, Identify bad actors, Bad Actor Reporting & development of improvement Plans.
- Carry out Integrity studies to identify the root of the bad actors.
- Recommend possible solutions to resolve the bad actors.
- Supply reliability metrics inputs into the RAM studies.
- Understand equipment risks that effect operations
- Perform inherent risk analysis on equipment through conversion from RBI or facilitated sessions.
- Reliability reporting: Reporting and progress tracking of reliability processes through monthly reliability and integrity status report:
- Competency of strategy maintainers
- RCA themes
- Condition monitoring issues
- Availability/Unintended Downtime
- Production losses
- Metrics e.g. Mean Time Between Failure(MTBF) and Mean Time Between Incidents(MTBi)
- Breakdowns minimization
- Ensure that reliability engineers issue a quality 6 monthly report after a thorough data analysis from various data sources, including progress on the major reliability processes. Proper recommendations also need to be included.
- RCA Investigations & Compliance. Issue quality incident investigation (RCA) reports to client/incident owner/management.
- Report on RCA incidents next steps as agreed for the business unit
- Asset Performance Tools (APT) Studies Assist with the justification of the correct amount of critical spares to be held cost/risk analysis studies through the use of the Integrated Asset Performance
- 2050 Renewals: Use RBI outcomes for pressure equipment and piping and through facilitated contact sessions for electrical, instrumentation and rotating equipment to indicate end of live and recommend renewal of the equipment.
